Well another successful Cat of the Year is over! TCS really put magic into the event- beautiful decor highlighting the theme of "Beauty and the Beast" was evident both during the day and night events. The Judges' stations were spectacular and the Day Event MC, Daniel Germishuys, was totally on the ball as he called up the cats and guided the exhibitors through the process- of course this was all done under the eagle eyed show manager, Bronwyn Adendorff.

The cats, were of course, the stars of the show- there were Abyssinians and their medium hair cousins, the Somalis. Persians and Exotic Shorthairs, Russian Blues, Main Coons and 10 Norwegian Forest Cats! Also on display were Cornish and Devon Rexes, Sphynx, Munchkin, British, Burmese, Bengals, Siamese and Orientals, American Shorthairs, Siberian and Domestic Pets- all beautifully groomed and well behaved. The 5 judges certainly had to have their wits about them in order to assess the total of 78 cats!

The day finished at 2.30pm and the Venue personnel began the process of turning a cat show into a banquet style table setting- leaving only 3 hours for the evening team to ensure that everything was perfect- tables needed to be decorated, sound checks done, evening slide presentation had to be sync'd to the projector and screen, Trophies and prizes arranged and then Santie and Michiel Meyer had to use their electronic techy brains to ensure that the live stream You- Tube action could be broadcast for those who were unable to attend. There was much activity going on!

Then it was time to open the doors! As our DJ played "Be our Guest" from the Beauty and the Beast soundtrack the exhibitors and their family or friends filled up the 10 seater tables- once again these were beautifully decorated in theme by Andrei and Bronwyn and the team. Ahmed and his camera were ready and poised for action, Santie and Michiel gave a thumbs up- we were live on You Tube! Jacqui has her finger ready to start the slide show and Andrei had lined up his certificates, all secured in 3D printed books.

The speeches were made- the President's Award this year went to Athylle Caw, who always gives 100% to SACC in everything she does.
Breeder of the Year went to Charmaine Danziger and Daniel Viviers of Tres Jolie Cattery- the 2nd year winning this award. They also won the Brood Queen of the Year for L'Exquisite West Side Story- a Persian bred by Brenda Neukircher. The Stud of the Year went to Athylle Caw's Maine Coon, The Legends Waikiki Whackhead of Geedee. "Wacky" was bred by Petra Smith.
Our best dressed ladies this year were Natasja Burger and Naso Adam

Naso Adam's daughter, Tahseen Ebrahim, designed the best charm and also was the first to guess this year's COTY Theme.

But it was time for announcing the countdown of the real stars of COTY.
pet of the Year was Pearl Oopsie Daisy, a beautiful calico spayed domestic shorthair owned by Penny Steyn. Kitten of the Year was Pearl Tinkerbelle, a very pretty cream Burmese female, also owned and bred by Penny Steyn.

The actual Cat of the Year Trophy is presented to either the Neuter of the Year or the Entire of the Year depending on which has the highest score.
Neuter of the Year was Tres Jolie Jon Snow, a magnificent white Persian with copper eyes, owned by Gail Chirnside and bred by Charmaine Danziger and Daniel Viviers.
Entire of the Year was another Persian, a stunning cream male, Incatique Paw Mewman, owned and bred by Ingrid de Wet.

The title of Cat of the Year 2025 was awarded to Tres Jolie Jon Snow.
During the day and the evening we were very lucky to have the film crew from Kwela on Kyknet in attendance and the COTY Special will be on Kwela, Kyknet on 31st August at 19h00.
