COTY is almost upon us!

Yes that's correct- on 26th July SACC once again will stage it's annual Cat of the Year Event. Grateful thanks to Royal Canin for sponsoring our prestigious event.

This year the event will be hosted by TCS, one of SACC's member Clubs, and the committee is in full swing making sure everything is just purrfect for the cats, the exhibitors, the officials and the public.

The venue is the beautiful Fairway Hotel Spa and Golf Resort in Randburg, Gauteng.

The Venue

78 of South Africa's best cats will be judged by 5 experienced Cat Judges during the morning of the event. The Judges will be assisted by well trained Stewards/Cat Handlers to ensure that the judging process flows smoothly. This is always a very exciting but somewhat nerve wracking process for the exhibitors after the many hours spent grooming their cats, they know they can now do no more to ensure their cat is seen as the "best".

So, how do we get to 78 cats: 30 Entire males and Females compete for the title of Entire of the Year and 30 Neuter Male and Spayed Females compete for the title of Neuter of the Year. The highest scoring cat, either Neuter or Entire, becomes the Cat of the Year.

13 Kittens compete for the title of Kitten of the Year and 5 Pets compete for the title of Domestic Pet of the Year. These 2 categories are stand alone and are not included in the Cat of the Year title.

Gail Nel, Event Coordinator, and her Team of accomplished people will delight you with their attention to decor and design concepts- and a theme which will blow your mind (cannot be revealed as yet). Everyone has a specific task to undertake which they embrace with enthusiasm and vigour.

The event is open to the public during the morning and early afternoon.

The evening event is a prepaid ticket Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony and not open to the general public.
